London Temple

We were able to stop at the London Temple on our way to the airport. Our original plan was to stop at the Temple and then our directors told us we wouldn't have time and we were all really bummed about it, but then they surprised us our last night and told us to be ready to go by 5:30 AM so we could make a quick stop at the Temple. I was so happy! The London Temple doesn't have an Angel Moroni, but the grounds were amazing! So gorgeous!

Les Miserables

I was able to go to the play "Les Miserables" on my last night in London. It was absolutely amazing! I loved every second of it and didn't want it to ever end!

Wimbledon

On our last day in London I got to half-way fulfill my dream....I got to see the outside of Wimbledon! Holly and I rode the "The Tube" out to the Wimbledon stop (having no idea where we were going). We got off the stop and it was pouring rain. I stepped off "The Tube" and filled my shoes full of water. We then walked about three miles to get there...by the time we got there my jeans were soaked to my knees! It was all closed and locked up, but I still saw some grass courts, the check-in booths, the tournament bracket, and everything like that! It was so much fun! Now I will just have to go back and watch a real match!

Tower Bridge

Tower of London

We visited the Tower of London for an afternoon and it was lots of fun! We went on a short tour with a guide and he was so funny! It was very cool to see all the different towers. We also were able to see the Crown Jewels and they were so amazing! When you walked into the room they had a moving floor so you couldn't stop in front of them and look, and there were guards everywhere! They were beautiful!

Buckingham Palace

We watched the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. It was very interesting! It lasted a really long time and we couldn't see in the gates or hear the band so it got old after they were done marching around the outside, but it was still an experience of a lifetime...afterall who gets to see the Changing of the Guard in London?!?

St. James' Park

We walked through St. James' Park on our way to Buckingham Palace. Everything is so green!

Hyde Park

Trevor & Carole Jones

My Dad served his mission in London so I was able to meet up with a couple that he baptized while in London. Holly and I met them at their train stop and then we wandered around Covent Garden and then stopped and had dinner and just visited. It was so much fun to spend some time with them! They are such a kind couple and it was great to be able to see them again. Now I really want my family to go to London and be able to see them!

Hyde Park Church

We were able to attend Sacrament Meeting in London and that was very special to me. We walked out of "The Tube" and there was a large building that looked like any other business building and then we saw this sign on the door and it was so special! It was a singles branch so most of the people there were our age...it was lots of fun!

Wesley Church

We visited the John and Charles Wesley Chapel on Sunday afternoon. We started our tour behind the chapel at the grave of John Wesley. Then we were able to go inside the chapel. On our way in the guide asked if any of us played the organ, and of course everyone pointed to me because I played everyday in class and then in Rome. So I got to play the organ that John Wesley bought for his wife and sons (it also was the same type that Handel played on). It was amazing! I played "Our Savior's Love"...my favorite song. I just got the strongest feeling in that church that I was doing the right thing and that these men approved. As we left the chapel, one of our directors pulled us all over and told us the vision of Wilford Woodruff in the St. George Temple.

"Two weeks before I left St. George, the spirits of the dead gathered around me, wanting to know why we did not redeem them. … These were the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and they waited on me for two days and two nights. … I straightway went into the baptismal font and called upon Brother McAllister to baptize me for the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and fifty other eminent men, making one hundred in all, including John Wesley, Columbus, and others." Wilford Woodruff

The Spirit was so strong there and I know that John Wesley has accepted the gospel and was touching our hearts as we entered that chapel.

Isaac Watts

We visited a cemetery where Isaac Watts was buried, and we sang some of the hymns that he wrote. It was a very neat experience as the Spirit was very near.

St. Paul's Cathedral

St. Paul's Cathedral was very neat. Everything was so elaborate inside. We were able to go inside and sit down on the benches for a few minutes before Mass started so that was neat to be able to sit and ponder for a few minutes.

Westminster Abbey

Big Ben

Big Ben and Parliament were absolutely amazing! "Tonight I got to see Big Ben and the Parliament Building. We walked out of "The Tube" right next to Big Ben, but none of us realized what it was until we started across the bridge and looked back! It is very pretty so I got lots of pictures there." Countryside...England

Our ride from Dover, England into London, England was beautiful!

Ferry Ride

We rode a Ferry from Calais, France to Dover, England. The ride was beautiful! We drove our bus onto the Ferry and then once we were on they let us out of the bus and we were able to explore the Ferry. I got motion sickness...once again...but the ride was still fun!

Pointe Du Hoc

"We visited Pointe Du Hoc and that was very sombering as we could see the massive holes where the cannons/missles/mines, etc. were placed. The terrain on those beaches are also amazing. It is mostly cliffs and then thick forest with trees and shrubs. The sand is deep and hard to walk in. They most definitely had the Lord helping them along." Journal Entry, October 17, 2008

American Cemetery

The American Cemetery was so neat. Everything was in perfect shape and order. There was a very special reverence there.
